What's paleo?

This is a repost from my website located here:http://foodrx.businesscatalyst.com/blog.html

Paleo diet:

Paleo includes:
-lean proteins (meat, seafood, chicken, & eggs)
-non-starchy veggies, fruit (except exotics)
-nuts & seeds

Off-limits:
-no processed foods/drinks
-no bread
-no cereal or grains at all
-no legumes
-no dairy (although some paleo dieters include dairy)
-no sugars
-no artificial sweeteners

Artificial sweeteners:
Just a side note: while these usually have no caloric content one problem is they’ll make you hungry by suppressing (or shutting down) your bodies mechanism that lets you know your full - meaning, you'll eat indefinitely! …..that’s probably a little exaggeration, but you’ll probably over-serve yourself ;)

Approaches to paleo:
There are different approaches to the paleo diet - some include dairy and others do not:

Strict paleo = no processed foods/meats, dairy, grains, legumes, starches, or alcohol.

Paleo + dairy = the same guideline as above except you consume dairy.
Check out Marks daily apple for a post he wrote on this gray area:
